Tooth Whitening
Lot's of myths exist about tooth whitening and bleaching of teeth, but there are only 2 ways to achieve this:
When?
When there is a natural discolouration or yellowing of the teeth.
HOME SYSTEMS
How?
You are given a slim, comfortable fitted mouthguard and special bleaching solutions (carbamide peroxide)..
The solution is placed inside the mouthguard and this is placed over the teeth for 1 hour a day, for a total of 2 weeks.
The result
A lightening of the colour of the teeth, from 2-4 shades whiter
Yellow discolouration responds better than grey discolouration.
Not so dark teeth respond even better.
Limitations
Result is not permanent and teeth need re-bleaching every 12 months or so.
Will not change the colour of existing fillings.
Cost
$606.00 for initial application.
If mouthguard is saved, reapplication costs only the price of the solution - around $100.00
Safe?
As far as I know from over 10 years worldwide experience - Yes.
Sensitivity to cold during treatment can be a problem for some.
ZOOM! INSTANT WHITENING
You need to be assessed and have your teeth cleaned, then your teeth will be isolated and the ZOOM! bleaching solution is applied over the teeth, and activated with a quartz-halogen light that activates and speeds up the bleaching process.
It all takes about 1.5 hours, and the results can be quite dramatic - up to 8 shades whiter in many cases.
Teeth are usually quite sensitive for 1-2 days afterwards, but we provide you with a soothing calcium paste to help with this.
Again, whitening may only last 12-18 months, but we provide you with a touch-up kit to maintain them as white as in the original process.
